Bramblepot inn Maplelight
Sent by traveling merchant
Today was the best day ever! I got kidnapped by bandits! Then I met some real seasoned warriors!
I was kinda disappointed when I had to sneak by those goblins between Toinreike and Folkscrest. I knew I couldn’t take them on with my little crossbow, but just think of the story it would’ve made!
So anyway, I was walking on the road minding my own business, when this guy talks to me out of the shadows. I swear there wasn’t anyone on the road, then poof! He had some mismatched armor, and an outrageous green hat with a red feather. He was a little rude so I tried joking with him. He said I looked small and ‘ny-eeve’ (or nayv? I don’t know) so I told him his mother was a hamster and his father smelt of elderberries.
The next thing I remembered was waking up in a tent, tied to a chair, with my pack a few feet away from me. There were shouts and dogs barking. Lots of noise, maybe some roaring? and then dead silence. I heard steps come up to my tent, and a robed woman pulled back the tent flap. She introduced herself as Launa. She had long silver hair, and looked quite harmless. Her cutting eyes and large knotted staff told me otherwise. She untied me and let me collect my things.
I went outside and saw - get this - a demon! Literally! Red skin, curved black horns, and gold eyes with no pupils! She introduced herself as Kai. (it’s pronounced Kaya, I thought twice about arguing the spelling) There was also an armor-clad warrior named Gerron. He didn’t have much to say.
I also noticed the bodies of the dogs and bandits strewn over the campsite. The one I met on the road had his head cut clean off! Just as I was soaking in this new group and their dispatch of the bandits, I heard a shuffle from the other tent. A trunk appeared at the doorway carried by a DRAGON! Walking on two legs! Also wearing the bandit’s outrageous hat. It looked quite comical perched sideways on his massive head. He had golden scales, massive teeth and claws, and a brain the size of a walnut.
Launa explained that they had been hired to retrieve a merchant’s stolen goods, and that I was welcome to go back to town with them. We gathered everything, and took the bandit’s horse, and set off to Maplelight. We parted ways at the inn, but I may tag along with them back to Folkscrest.
P.S. I performed at the inn tonight! I’m sure it would have made you proud!
